Caring for someone living with dementia can feel overwhelming, particularly as care needs change over time. This programme provides practical guidance, education, and support to help family caregivers better understand dementia and feel more confident navigating the realities of the role.
Our free monthly caregiver classes are based on the Compass Guide to Dementia Caregiving — a Bermuda-specific 12-module educational resource developed by our Clinical Director, Marie Fay, drawing on nearly two decades of experience supporting families living with dementia in Bermuda.
Family caregivers can:
- attend monthly classes in person,
- access the Compass Guide online at no cost,
- and explore topics at their own pace.
Topics include understanding dementia, communication strategies, managing changes in behaviour, caregiver wellbeing, planning ahead, navigating local services and supports, and adapting to changing care needs over time.
Families needing more individualised guidance and support may also benefit from our In-Home Occupational Therapy Services, which provide home-based dementia support tailored to the unique needs of individuals and their caregivers.
